The World Endurance Championship has for decades been a battle-ground for the clash between the main constructors. TOYOTA, in particular, has invested considerably in the field of endurance racing with what seems to be a form of curse at the Le Mans 24 Hours. The very rare TOYOTA 88C played its part in the long series of TOYOTA's failures at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Despite being very competitive, both the works cars entered by the firm in 1988 were quickly forced to retire. However, that did not stop them from shining in Japan and later in the United States where the car being presented pursued its successful career.
