This superb Shadow DN9 with its particularly eye-catching livery raced the 1979 Formula One season in the hands of Jan Lammers, who was taking part in his first Formula 1 season.

His Formula 3 Championship title win in 1978 earned Jan Lammers a place in Formula 1 racing the following year at the tender age of 22. From 1987 to 1990, he took an active part in building up the reputation of the Jaguar Silk Cut cars which were successfully developed by the Tom Walkinshaw Racing firm.

The crowning success of his brilliant racing career was his victory in the 1988 Le Mans 24-Hours race at the wheel of a Jaguar XJR-9LM which he shared with Johnny Dumfries and Andy Wallace. In 1990, he finished on the second step of the podium, this time driving a Jaguar XJR-12.

He can boast a total of twenty-two participations in the celebrated Le Mans 24-Hours race.

At the end of the Formula 1 season, the Shadow DN9 Chassis N° 2B was kept as part of a collection in Great Britain before being sold by Hall & Hall to a French driver, Mr. Michel Baudoin, in 2009.

In 2012, Michel Baudoin sold it in turn to its present owner, who commissioned Hall & Hall to undertake a complete overhaul of the car with a view to entering it for the Masters Historic Formula One Championship. The work was completed in 2013 and the Shadow DN9 took to the track again after many years’ absence.

It took part in three Masters Historic Formula One races and in just three track- days. Since then, its Cosworth DFV 3-litre engine has been completely overhauled by Wassermann Racing, over the last winter.

The Shadow DN9 is therefore being offered for sale with an engine which has done one test practice and took part in the Barcelona race last April.

It comes with an up-to-date Historical Technical Passport and a spare parts package.

It is ready to race in the 2015 FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship.
